Marc Alt is a design leader who has dedicated his career to connecting design, technology and ecology. An advocate of open innovation, he has launched numerous projects, conferences and organizations focused on advancing sustainable design principles and collaboration across industries. He is currently founder and editor of Open Source Cities, a project on the future of cities.

Marc was founder and co-chair of the AIGA Center for Sustainable Design and has served on the advisory boards of the Designers Accord, Sustainable Brands and The Green Parking Council. He was Adjunct Professor at NYU MFA Interactive Telecommunications Program. He is an advisor to companies such as BMW, MINI USA, Volvo and Ogilvy Earth and is actively involved in a number of urban design and smart cities initiatives. His current projects focus on improving the quality of life in cities through new ways of thinking about human scale development, living systems, urban mobility and the built environment.
